I Hate that you are here, but glad you stopped by
Why? Because if you are reading this, chances are you are going through a tough time. In fact, you are probably going through an unimaginable experience and just looking for something to help make things a little less...dark. You find yourself in a new life where you are divided by death, tragedy or circumstance from your spouse, loved one, perhaps even family and friends. The life you once had, dreams for the future, plans you made...those are not attainable anymore and you are adrift. You want, no, need some tiny shred of light to follow out of the place you find yourself. I know. I'm there too. I sincerely hope this place helps you...and...me.
WHY HERE?
Good question. Let me introduce myself...
Hi. My name is Joni. I'm a 43 year old widow and mother of 2 children. Well, one is 20 so technically an Adult and the other is 9 but still...children to me. The love of my life, high school sweetheart, father of my children...MY PERSON, graduated from this life in October 2021 after a very short cancer journey. After almost 8 months of life without him, I'm still navigating new waters and trying to heal.
I decided that maybe I can help others along the way while I work on figuring this thing out and maybe you can help me as well.
I've joined a few widow groups online. Then jumped out of the group because many of the posts were just too triggering when I thought I was doing better. I've had good days and days where I was really good at hiding how bad the day was. I've alternated between relieved to have a good day and guilt that I didn't have a worse day. Grief sucks, it's weird, it is not a one size fits all look and feel. I want to keep this a safe space for others in my situation and will try my best to keep things light but honest. Let's face it, there are new things we are having to learn, deal with and handle that we never had to think about before. I'll let you know what I find out. Hopefully this can be a source for you to start figuring things out as well.
I want to mention that I am a Christian and many of my posts, blogs, thoughts are through a Biblical lens. I will not alienate others that do not believe the way I do but I will not apologize for it either. I can not imagine going through something like this without God and my church family. I want others to feel that love and security as well.
